Abstract: »This thesis aims to analyse the autobiographical features in Mary Shelley’s literary work through the lens of Feminist and Psychoanalytic literary theory. The works in question are Matilda and Frankenstein. The main objective of this thesis is to examine the influence of Mary Shelley’s life on her work with respect to the historical and biographical context. The emphasis will be on the depiction of motherhood, fatherhood, and childhood in her work, and how the patriarchal structure of early 19th-century society shaped both her life and her portrayal of romantic relationships.« (Source: Thesis)
